     Continuous Coverage
Requirement

As of July 1, 2023, the Medi-Cal program faces a significant change with the ending of the "continuous coverage requirement." This change means that eligible patients for Medi-Cal will no longer be automatically renewed into the program. Consequently, millions of Californians are at risk of losing their healthcare coverage, posing a significant challenge to the well-being of low-income individuals and families across the state.

According to The Kaiser Family Foundation, an estimated 5 million to 14 million individuals could potentially lose their Medi-Cal coverage due to these changes. This alarming statistic underscores the urgency of our mission to reduce that number and protect the health and well-being of vulnerable populations.
